ABOUT ME
My name is Christian. An artist, designer, musician and producer among other skills; I am a man of many trades. Born-and-bred in New York City, I like to think I am the realest deal you can get. I've always been this way. Thank my parents.
Some people know me as "Xian"; others simply as "X". I appreciate the small things but often aim for the larger, (what some may call "near impossible") things. I believe in hard work to achieve results, but also sympathize with those who've been dealt a bad hand in life. I admire the paint strokes, detail and time that went into a Munch or Dali; but I also see the skill and thought that goes into I Am 8-Bit or the relevant subject matter of Shepard Fairey . I sonically take in all that went into The Beatles' arrangement of 'A Day In The Life' or U2's 'Achtung Baby', but also get down with the new Twenty-One Pilots and Lady Gaga records. I see the appeal of the rich politician making headlines--but also know they're no more important than the downtrodden person living out of a box downtown.
I am the lead singer, producer and driving force behind my alternative rock band The Amatory Murder. I am proud to say to date we have released two full-length studio albums, one live album, two EPs and two single/remix records. I am grateful to say we have shared the stage with some bigger names in rock music and regularly tour nationally in the United States. I have released solo work in different genres under different aliases, composed with and produced for other musical acts and bands, and have done both vocal work and musical score/compositions for commercials, documentaries and shorts. I have my own home studio where I record, engineer, produce and create. My preferred DAW is Pro Tools. My first live show ever was singing and playing guitar underage at CBGB's; and my first musical traveling experience was roadying for a progressive jam band.
As a graphic designer and cad artist, I have freelanced and worked for some of the top brands in the world including Macy's Merchandising Group, Sear's Holding, Li & Fung, Hanes/Champion and New Balance. I have an extensive portfolio showcasing apparel, textile, layout and graphics work for all things Juniors, Missy, Young Men's, Men's, Intimates, etc. as well as business cards, CD designs, hang tags, posters and flyers. If there's a job to get done, I've done it. In the illustration and fine arts field, I have had some of my work exhibited in galleries throughout the state. Some pieces were of dream interpretations. Others were of children handing presents to snowmen. I possess a degree from The Fashion Institute of Technology and attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and The Performing Arts (aka the "Fame" school).
